Supersport World Championship

The Supersport World Championship (SBK) is the main feeder series for the SBK Superbike World championship. As such it is used by the major motorcycle manufacturers as a development platform for bikes, riders and teams. It is therefore extremely competitive and in 2008 has over 35 bikes on the grid from 19 teams representing 14 different countries.

The Supersport World Championship follows the Superbibe World Championship to every event including the ‘flyaway’ races in Qatar, Australia and the USA. The is one Supersport race at each event usually run between the two SBK races.

Most of the major motorcycle manufacturers are actively involved including Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki and Triumph. Like SBK the series has proven popular with sponsors with companies such as Hanspree, Motocard, Hotel Planet Italia, RES Software, Lodis all actively involved.

Many teams use Supersport racing as final preparation for the SBK World Championship.
